Dear Parents/Guardians/Residents:
First and foremost, thank you very much for all that you do on behalf of our students and staff. On behalf of the Sewanhaka Central High School District, I would like to also extend my sincere appreciation for your support during the recent budget process. As a result of the positive outcome of the budget vote, the district will be able to continue to preserve all the outstanding programs for our students in all grade levels throughout the district. Your ongoing support and efforts are valued greatly.
In my continued attempt to keep you informed about our district, it is my pleasure to tell you about activities that are taking place in the schools that are of importance to the residents of the community. The district’s “Teachers of the Year” have been selected. They are: Kaia Williams, School Psychologist, Elmont Memorial High School; Thomas Burke, Special Education Teacher, Floral Park Memorial High School; In the Memory of Jeff Brous, Former Music Teacher in H. Frank Carey High School; Andy Yen, English Teacher, New Hyde Park Memorial High School; and Daisy Amaris, Family & Consumer Sciences Teacher, Sewanhaka High School.
I would like to also offer congratulations to all of our students who participated in activities throughout the school year. The athletes in all sports continue to be wonderful representatives of the Sewanhaka Central High School District as they compete locally, regionally and within State competitions. The high schools’ choral and instrumental music concerts were certainly outstanding events. In addition, our clubs and activities are always popular and provide co-curricular opportunities for more than half of our high school students. As always, I want to extend my invitation to each of you to attend any of our district’s activities.
As the school year concludes, I would like to continue to extend my sincere appreciation to each of you for your ongoing support for our district. This year’s senior classes graduate on June 22 and June 23 at Hofstra University, and many of our graduates are attending outstanding colleges and universities. Please visit our district’s website at www.sewanhaka.k12.ny.us for additional information regarding our students’ accomplishments and achievements. In addition, I would encourage you to read the newest edition of the district’s SCOOP that can be accessed through the district homepage. This newsletter has a great deal of information regarding our students’ accomplishments in all five high schools.
As I conclude my second year in the district as your Superintendent of Schools, I would like to thank each and every one of you for the support that you provided to me throughout the past two years. You have continued to make me feel welcomed and supported within the district and the work that you extend to provide the necessary support to our students through your fundraising and service initiatives is greatly appreciated. I hope you have a safe, enjoyable and restful summer.
Sincerely yours,
Ralph P. Ferrie, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
