District to Review Current Status of Facilities
The Sewanhaka Central High School District Board of Education conducted a special meeting on Sunday, October 21, 2012 to discuss the current status of district facilities. At the meeting, the Board authorized the district administration to establish an Ad Hoc Committee on Facilities. The purpose of this Committee is to review pertinent data related to the status of the district’s facilities to include buildings, technology infrastructure, grounds and athletic facilities. In addition, the Committee will examine several potential scenarios related to a potential building program and propose recommendations for the Board’s consideration.
During the next few months, the members of the Ad Hoc Committee on Facilities will collect pertinent data regarding each of the district’s high schools to include the current conditions of each of the buildings, needs regarding athletic playing fields, locker rooms, gymnasiums and training facilities, and the status of the district’s technology infrastructure. Following a thorough review of this information, the Committee will propose recommendations to the Sewanhaka Central High School Board of Education for its review.
Should the Board determine to proceed with any proposed building program, it would require approval by the component districts’ registered voters through a specially scheduled election which could take place in December 2013. All information regarding the progress of the Ad Hoc Committee on Facilities and all proposed recommendations will be posted on the district’s website. In addition, the process will be periodically updated during regularly scheduled Board of Education meetings.
