    COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

    Grade 10:

    Business Concepts and Practices (half year) – ½ high school credit

     

    This one semester course is designed to provide students with the concepts and attitudes essential for understanding and working in the modern field of business.  This course explores the responsibilities of an effective employee by focusing on the importance of time management, problem-solving skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and maintaining a positive attitude in the workplace.  Students are trained to prepare and give business presentations.  Career exploration and the development of critical thinking skills are other important facets of this course as well.


    *Computer Analysis & Information Processing (full year), three college credits – 1 high school credit

     

    This is a full year course in which the student learns basic computer skills using several programs contained in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.  The student learns to manipulate spreadsheets, databases, and prepare presentations.  Desktop Publishing is also presented using Microsoft Publisher.  The course concludes with a unit in Integration in which multiple applications are used in conjunction.  Students will continue building their multi-year digital portfolio.  Students may earn three college credits by successfully completing the course requirements.

    Period 4:      World Language

    Period 5:      Lunch (or Elective)

    Period 6:      Living Environment

    Period 7:      Living Environment Lab / Physical Education
