A college planning resource for students and parents
For juniors and seniors registered with personal accounts, Family Connection is a place to organize personal data, lay out a game plan, maintain a list of prospective colleges, and track the application process.
This research tool provides comprehensive information on thousands of colleges. In addition to general and admissions information, further data is presented on academics, cost and financial aid, student body characteristics, extracurricular activities and athletic programs. For colleges to which New Hyde Park students (2006 and forward) have applied, the number applied, admitted and enrolled students are shown with a link to a “scattergram” graph.
Enter criteria such as size, location, cost, availability of specific majors or athletic programs, and students can produce a list of colleges that meet their criteria.
This feature shows all colleges to which NHP students have been accepted, classes 2006 and forward, as well as the number of students accepted and number enrolling at each.
As college representatives schedule information sessions at NHP, these will be posted on line. Click on Visit Schedule, or view the page for a particular college to see whether a session is scheduled. Juniors and seniors with personal accounts may sign up online. Others, may sign up in the guidance office.
A graphical view of application outcomes (accepted, denied, wait-listed) at a college for recent NHP applicants, using GPA and SAT scores. Students can gauge their chances of acceptance by comparing personal GPA/SAT numbers with those of successful applicants.
